Collaborative Spider Book

I love creating collaborative work and last year  Christina Lafontaine and I created some miniature illustrated books that are now for sale in my new Etsy shop. – Here’s a little blurb from my shop:

About a year ago my friend Christina and I collaborated on three miniature (2″x 1.5″- 5cmx4cm) accordion books which were featured in a small works show at Clark University’s Shiltkamp Gallery.

Christina created beautifully detailed drawings with a tiny .005 Micron pen and then hand colored them with artist’s markers. I hand bound them and created the tiny illustration on the cover and on the back of the book.

Each book took several hours of planning and meticulous work and was created with all archival materials so it will last many years.

This particular book has a big yellow and gray spider on the front, and on the back, little flies who don’t seem to realize the imminent danger they face! The cheerful front and back floral covers belie the treacherous inside of this artist’s book but the tiny spider web on the cover gives a little bit of a clue.
