Lassco CR 20 Corner Rounder

After staying up late hawkishly watching an online auction for a Lassco Corner Rounder CR-20 , I was able to swoop in at the last minute (literally 45 seconds) and win it at the great price of $62! New, they retail for $150.

The Corner Rounder does just what the name says – it can round the corners of paper up to 1/2″ thick, balsa wood or thin plastic. I’m planning on using it to create pamphlet style books with rounded corners. I first used on at the IPRC in Portland Oregon, but it was unfortunately rather dull. Hopefully this one will be sharp, but if not, I can buy a new cutting die for around $80.

The little ledges on the right hand side and the top of the cutter keep your stuff lined up. You just slide it into the cutting die, and press down the lever. You can even swing up that little shelf on the left hand side if you’re cutting something larger.

Cool vintage typeface!

This one has a 1/4″ cutting radius, but they also come in 1/8″ (like a credit card) 3/8″ and 1/2″

Can you buy dies with the different cutting radii (spelling?) for the same machine? That thing looks so cool.

yes! they come as small as 1/8″ (like the rounded edges of a credit card) to 1/2″ – each die is about $100 though (eek)

Dear Ruth,
Such a wonderfull blog!
Very inspiring.
I’m starting a book binding club in my small town in Northern Ontario and would like to give some suggestions to the local library for the purchase of books on bookbinding. Any suggestions?

thank you!
